KONAMI today announced that Saw II: Flesh & Blood will be available at retail stores nationwide on October 19 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation3, just in time for the release of “Saw VII 3D”, the seventh installment of the popular horror franchise from Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures. KONAMI has released an all-new look at concept art from the game for those daring enough to enter Jigsaw’s world. The images reveal newly created deadly traps that challenge the player to think fast under pressure. Zombie Studios Producer, John Williamson, shares the vision for the game, “Just the silhouette of the character in the trap had to make the viewer uncomfortable. You had to know instantly that something bad was going to happen to this person if you didn’t get them out.” A look at the intense and detailed environments were also revealed to show the mysterious, detailed levels one can expect in this year’s release.

SAW II: Flesh & Blood threatens sanity with new stomach-twisting traps and puzzles, more visceral combat, and an all-new storyline that takes place between the first and second movies. Gamers take on the role of Detective Tapp’s estranged son Michael, who is trying to understand his father’s death. As players navigate their way through Jigsaw’s terrifying world, they will face mind-bending puzzles and must defend themselves against the minions Jigsaw has placed in their path. In order to survive Jigsaw’s games, players must use their intelligence and desire to live in order to survive.

SAW II: Flesh & Blood will be available on October 19 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

2K Games announces Bioshock Infinite

2K Games announced today that BioShock Infinite, a first-person shooter, is currently in development at Irrational Games, the studio behind the original BioShock which has sold over 4 million units worldwide. Set in 1912, BioShock Infinite introduces an entirely new narrative experience that lifts players out of the familiar confines of Rapture and rockets them to Columbia, an immense city in the sky. BioShock Infinite is currently planned for release during calendar 2012.

Originally conceived as a floating symbol of American ideals at a time when the United States was emerging as a world power, Columbia is dispatched to distant shores with great fanfare by a captivated public. What begins as a brand new endeavor of hope turns drastically wrong as the city soon disappears into the clouds to whereabouts unknown.

The player assumes the role of former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, sent to the lost city to rescue Elizabeth, a young woman imprisoned there since childhood. He develops a relationship with Elizabeth, augmenting his abilities with hers so the pair may escape from a city that is literally falling from the sky. DeWitt must learn to fight foes in high-speed Sky-Line battles, engage in combat both indoors and amongst the clouds, and harness the power of dozens of new weapons and abilities.

“We are excited to expand the world of BioShock, which is one of the industry’s most critically acclaimed and beloved franchises,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “We believe that Irrational Games will lend their meticulous attention to detail and unique storytelling expertise to make BioShock Infinite an incredible entertainment experience that will immerse new and diehard fans of BioShock alike.”

With the original BioShock, Irrational Games won “Game of the Year” awards from Game Informer, IGN, G4’s X-Play, and BAFTA and redefined what players expect from a first-person shooter. “But when it came to begin work on BioShock Infinite,” said Ken Levine, creative director of Irrational Games, “we only had one rule: No sacred cows. This game is both true to what people love about the series and unafraid to question every assumption.”

Levine continued, “In order to explore the floating city of Columbia, we needed an entirely new engine. To bring Elizabeth to life, we had to build brand-new animation and AI systems. To create wide-ranging indoor and outdoor firefights at 30,000 feet, we had to rethink, rebuild and expand the BioShock arsenal. The only thing gamers can be certain of is this: the rules of the BioShock universe are about to change.”

Goooooooooooooooooooooooooal!

September 28th is the day all soccer fans will rejoice with the release of FIFA 11. Gracing the cover of this year’s addition will be Los Angeles Galaxy star Landon Donovan. Joining the 28-year-old American soccer hero will be Real Madrid’s Kaka and Arsenal’s Carlos Vela. This will be Landon’s third appearance on the cover while Kaka and Vela are first timers.

Donovan started for the U.S. Men’s National Team at the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, scoring three goals in four matches, including a thrilling injury time goal in a 1–0 win over Algeria, leading the USA to win their group for the first time since 1930. Donovan also enjoyed an outstanding 2009 campaign, winning Major League Soccer’s Most Valuable Player award for the first time and MLS Goal of the Year 2009 while leading the Galaxy to the MLS Cup. This season Donovan has scored 5 goals and 11 assists in 13 games for LA.

“Landon is the most recognizable, popular and accomplished soccer player in the United States and he was at his best with the world watching during the 2010 FIFA World Cup,” said Matt Bilbey, Vice President of Soccer, EA SPORTS. “After his FIFA World Cup performance and the season he had with the Galaxy last year we felt he belonged back on the cover of FIFA Soccer 11.”

Vela, an attacking forward, played on Mexico’s national team that advanced to the round of 16 at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He scored two goals and two assists in 20 appearances last season with Arsenal. Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, or better known as Kaka, is one of the finest football players of this generation, having won the Golden Ball and FIFA World Player of the Year awards in 2007. During the 2009-2010 season, Kaka scored 8 goals in 22 appearances for Real Madrid.

Building on FIFA Soccer 10 gameplay that won 50 sports game of the year awards, FIFA Soccer 11 reinvents player authenticity – on and off the ball – for every position on the pitch. All-new Personality+ sees individual abilities reflected in game, allowing clear differentiation for every player. FIFA 11 also introduces new Pro Passing, where pass accuracy is determined by a gamers ability on the control pad, and player skill, situation and urgency on the pitch, and 360° Fight For Possession, which delivers true freedom in man-to-man interactions, transforming physical play from individual lateral jostling to full 360° collisions involving multiple players.
